The New York Audiophile gathering was a success! Our setup: Pair of VMPS speakers (@$11,000+), Blue Circle pre-amp (BC3 MKII Preamplifier), Spectron II power amp, Philips 1000 signature mod by ModWright, Sony 999ES signature mod by ModWright and Audience cabling.
Everyone liked the Sony 999ES with two tubes sticking out. It is clean and elegant. They commended Dan for his work. Everone seems to knew Dan for his good work and flexibility. We just can't take our eyes of those glowing tubes!
Comparing ModWrights' Philips 1000 and the Sony 999ES is like comparing apples to orange. We all agreed that both players sounds awesome! Clarity, soundstage (front-back, side-to-side, top-to-bottom), uncompressed dynamics, and transparency are both similar. The 999ES both Tito and I agreed to have "good rythm" and "palpable presence". Michael said it sounded so f--- good! Then again, it could be the alchohol talking.
There is nothing to say bad about ModWrights' Sony 999ES or the setup used in this New York gathering which I think is really good. We all enjoyed the music, the drinks and everyone's company.
Feedback: Positive. A+++.
I included pictures of the session for your enjoyment.
