Phase Inverter?
« on: 23 Jun 2022, 09:28 pm »
I own a pair of Primaluna mono blocs.  I recently replaced the 4 gain tubes (2 x 12AX7’s / each) with some Telefunkens from Brent Jesse.

I have pretty good tubes on my pre and my DAC, at least 1’s that make me happy.

I understand the function of the phase inverter - these are 12AU7’s in my case.

I am currently using new production Tung Sols in this position.

Understanding that every circuit is different, how much influence on sound could the phase inverter have?

As long as tubes are strong and matched, I think theoretically that splurging for NOS does not give much bang for the buck.

Thoughts and thanks in advance -

The phase inverter is important but no more important than the output transformer or a good Tango choke, in my personal opinion the OPTs and the chokes are what matters most in terms of sound quality, so thats where worth spending money, expensive output tubes are a joke.
