Greetings again,
I have a 15 yr old QSONIX Music Server, which uses a WADIA Audio output board. My choices are Toslink, Digital-Coax and AES/EBU. This server is too old to have an iS2 output.
Most of the music I have on the huge drive is 24/96 and 24/192 FLAC format. I have attached photos of the QSONIX system, as well as its' rear ports. The QSONIX touchscreen GUI was WAY ahead of its' time, and to this day works perfectly. It was extremely expensive in 2010 ( $7500. USD) The company maintained a server for all album covers track info, that would automatically mesh with your local ripping or network uploads. QSONIX went out of business within a few years, and left no support network in place.
ROCK-OLA purchased their GUI rights and modified the software to work with their Jukeboxes.

The QSONIX output will depend on the DAC. All I know is my HoloAudio DAC will play 24/192 PCM and DSD64 using the S/PDIF inputs WITHOUT a driver. The HoloAudio will play up to 32/1.536M PCM and DSD1024X using the USB input WITH a driver.

Some NOS DACs like the ANK (Audio Note Kits) only play up to 24/96 while others like the Denifrips will play 24/192 recordings over coax.

Make sure the Coax-S/PDIF cable is a true 75 ohms, I used a DH Labs SilverSonic SPDIF cable ($75), others have their favorite. A 1 meter of Blue Jeans Cable Belden 1694A Coaxial Digital is only $31.00

Both the AES/EBU and the Coax digital outputs can handle up to 192/24 files. The choice depends on the DAC you're using. Coax input on a DAC is more common than AES/EBU, and which one sounds the best (if either has an advantage) is DAC dependent.

In my experience, the BNC Coax output will sound better than the RCA Coax output, but that's probably not universally true.

The cables do make a difference, even if one would like to believe that they don't.
