"Personae," Shawn Lane/Jonas Hellborg/Jeff Sipe. Simply a stunning disc, for lovers of "Jazz Fusion". Uncanny communication between this trio. Extraordinary music, played by extraordinary musicians!

Corinne Bailey Rae

She has good vocals and I do like the self-titled CD but I wish she
would team up with a good jazz band.

Just saw her recommended in Readers Digest.  Kind of popish but I put her on the list anyway.  I agree about needing a good jazz band.

My wife really likes the (r&b/pop) sound of her CD.

This is a good CD. My wife also loves it.
She can find a jazz band in 20 years but for now this sound is most enjoyable.
Absolutely wonderful sounding on a Sunday afternoon.

My latest addition was Jacques Loussier playing the Brandenburg Concertos.  I think I am addicted to the jazzy presentation of some of the great classical standards.  Good recording on Telarc.  $5 on ebay.

1. Ralph Towner, Time Lines. Solo acoustic guitar recording, beautiful.
2. Carrie Rodriguez, Seven Angels on a Bicycle. This gal covers a wide musical span, I hear country, folk, jazz, pop and world. Top notch musicians here too, including Bill Frisell. Sexy looking too.
3. Cheikh Lo, Lamp Fail
4. Willie Nelson, It will always be.
5. OS Mutantes (Remastered). A newly remastered(2006) cd of their 1968 self titled debut album...where rock-psychedelica fused with jazz mixed with Brazilian sounds for an experiment in music's unknown known sound. A true classic and a genuine 5-star album. Its crazy just how fearless one can be when you are young and you just don't know limitations, this was/is a product of that phase.

FWIW YourMusic (where these discs were purchased) just increased their per cd price by $1, effective January 2007.

Got home today and found this at my mail box...3-cd set plus a dvd of a live concert in Germany 1978. Popped the dvd in as soon as I got in the door. Its not in DD 5.1 and the lighting is spotty...but the performance is out of this world. Zawinul, Shorter, Jaco and Peter Erksine ...what a band, THe older guys Zawinul and Shorter are like the earth and the mountain with the younger Jaco and Peter being the children running around...Jaco is bubbling all over the stage and Peter is rocking out while sitting in one spot, towards the end of the 2hours+ concert they are both shirtless...What a joy to hear Shorter doing 'thanks for the memories' and 'I got it bad and that ain't good', and Jaco solo run on #8 Delores/Portrait of Tracy/third stone from the sun.
And thats just the dvd...waw.

1. Jason Moran~ Artist in residence
2. Iona~open sky.
3. Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate~in the heart of the moon
4. Dave Douglas~meaning and mystery.

There are a handful of artists that I have to buy every available original album they put out...Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Fela, and in the last year I added Dave Douglas and Jason Moran to that list. I like an artists that keep evolving, changing, exploring new territories...like a rolling stone...

John Butler Trio - Sunrise Over Sea

An aussie who sounds a bit like Jack Johnson if he had John Mayer's blues fixation with lots of great guitar and story songs.  He has flown under the radar for me but record store said he has new one out or soon coming that I will watch for.  Nice live sounding recorded sound as well - always a nice bonus!
