Gorgling noises Sensation M451
« on: 8 Oct 2011, 10:18 pm »
Hi Folks,

Am a recent owner of this near new amp connecting on Fostex full rangers.
Using the standard power supply and amp upgraded with Sonicaps Platinum bypasses.

After turning the amplifier on some hiss on a constant level is being detected even from 10ft.
Hiss is like white noise with a sound of flooding water through it...?!

Has any one of you an idea what this might and how to solve it?
Already moved my router and network harddisk from it who were beside the amp but did not solve it
or is just due to an opamp?

Brgds,

Hotze

Holtze,
If you've broken in the unit 100 hours or more, please reach out to Jason to work through issues with you (cables@virtueaudio.com).
The amp is not hiss-free but should be unnoticeable under if the system is setup properly.
We're behind you 100%.

Crt's. And plasma TV's also have a large affect on the amps causing the same type of noise your expressing.
LCD monitors affect them as well but not as badly.

Try powering the amp on with nothing around it on. If it still hisses and rustles ill need you to send it in.
If not turn one thing on at a time to see what's causing the hiss.

Thanks for all your contributions!  I 've found a cause but am not able (yet) to solve it.
Moving the amplifier away from possible disturbing sources did not help.
Thing is when I open the volume pot fully the gorgling noises disappear completely, turn it lower it
does appear again. I am now using a pre-amplifier to solve the problem for the time being but ofcourse I want a definite solution and using it as full integrated.
Has one of you an idea?

Thanks in advance,

Hotze

Maybe the POT is bad.  Send it back to Jason -- he loves fixing bad pots ;-)
