WE Wire for SE interconnects
« on: 3 Jul 2020, 02:39 pm »
I posted in Path if Least Resistance about a trusted source on EBay for the old WE wire and have found 1.

Has anyone used this wire and think it is a good value?

There is no shield so I am wondering is just a stranded pair will be sufficient?

Please let me know your thoughts and if you have a solution for the shield.  Please let me know and thanks in advance!

Why do want a shield. Close to TV or gear ?

I had another member tell me these cables smell like they are from the 50’s which makes sense so I probably stay away.

Anyone that lives in a modern world, and has unshielded single-end RCA interconnects is just asking for problems. They may get away with it for a while but sooner or later, interference is going to attack.

I haven't used the WE wire, but I've used dozens of unshielded twisted pair and braided 3 wire cables with no ill effects, ever.  The one time I thought I needed shielding it was actually a loose connection.
