Lii open speakers in a sealed cabinet - heresy?
« on: 20 Dec 2023, 06:12 pm »
Just to ask.  Is it heresy to replace drivers in an enclosed speaker cabinet with an open baffle speaker such as the Lii 12 inch?  I'm guessing it defeats some of the design, especially if its a 3-way with crossovers to filter the frequency. :nono:

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

You can use some Lii Woofer or W12 in a big BR box with a suited Litrage volume.

The FR F12 You can not use as Woofer, it will sound strange and small power handling.

Is it heresy

No, but most likely a poor design. Model the driver in the enclosure to see if it's going to be boomy. (Which is basically what the others have said.)
