RELOCATION FORCES SALE. EVERYTHING MUST GO!  Seller is HIGHLY motivated.

At this price the VPI Mk IV 'table and the Dynavector cartridge are FREE!  Package reduced to $1500 Cash and Carry.

This is a well cared for VPI Mk IV with TNT Mk IV lead lined (17 lb) platter and Mk IV bearing and original, factory spring suspension.  Also included is a new JMW 10.5i with new Dynavector 20x MC mounted and aligned.

This Mk IV factory 'table was purchased in 2009 from an audio reviewer based in NYC who was the original owner.  Although used regularly (and it showed) the 'table was never abused and was in fine operating condition.  The 10.5i and Dyna were purchased new around the same time.

I've just recently reconditioned the chassis, drilled the Super Arm Board for the 10.5i and mounted a Dyna 20x (1mv output).  Spindle to pivot is dead on per the VPI gauge.  The Dyna has been aligned with the VPI alignment gauge and azimuth has been set as recommended.  All is correct with the alignment and has worked well without issues across a few album sides.  Damping fluid well remains empty.

Other VPI pics in my gallery (I am NOT a photograper) > http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=gallery;area=browse;album=6838

Here's the skinny on the bit parts...

Chassis - Motor maintains speed extremely well.  Pwr switch works well.  The platter acrylic is in very good shape.  The platter aluminum shows a bit of age and has a scratch or two on the edge.  TNT bearing runs smooth and silent to the ear.  The wood base was sanded and repainted with semi-gloss black and multiple coats of clear lacquer.  The chassis now has close to the same appearance as the acrylic plinth and arm board.  Plinth is in excellent shape with only minor swirls from cleaning.  Arm board shows a bit more wear.  As you'll see in the photo's I flipped the arm board around to install the JMW 10.5i which leaves the mounting holes for the JMW 10 in the front left corner of the arm board.  Chassis was missing the motor cover when purchased and it's still missing.

Tonearm/Base - The 10.5i was purchased two years ago and just recently mounted.  It has seen no use other than alignment checks and perhaps 3-4 album sides.  Mechanically the arm is perfect and as new.  The anti-skate option is included and mounted but I'm presently working with VPI's 'full twist' method.  Results have been good so far.  (Removal of the anti skate will require tracking force to be reset.)

There are a few places on the arm that on close inspection show small blemishes/stains in the satin finish.  These are not glaring or obvious and most are not visible with the arm in place but none the less they are present.  Seems there was a contaminant on the surface for the two years the arm remained in the box.

Cartridge - As new with only 60 - 90 minutes of playing time.  By a good margin the Dyna is the finest source I've ever had in my system.

Other:
  • New belt.  Older one also included.
  • NIB 5" dustcover with hinges
  • VPI bearing lube
  • All of the arm accessories (tools, mounting hardware, damping fluid, alignment gauges, Shure stylus force gauge)

Asking $2900. $2750$2600.  Reasonable offers will be considered.

The table, arm and cart are presently installed in my system .  I'd be happy arrange a demo for any serious buyer(s).

It's unimaginably difficult to not spin album after album on this setup but I'm doing my best for the new owner.  I hate to part with this but present situation forces sale.

Local audition and pickup is greatly preferred.  However, I do have original packaging and will box the equipment for shipping.  Coordination of shipping, freight and insurance are the responsibility of the buyer.  I'll assist where/when I can.

Thanks for looking.  If you have questions please post or let me know.

Cheers!

A handsome beast, for sure, and with a fine reputation in its day.  I think you could call it a classic.  I think I would call it mine were I more able and it looks as good in person as it does in the photo.  Sorry you're having to part with this.

Congrats to both you and Sonny.  Does that deck have a sprung suspension?  Just curious.

Jim, well, as much as I would like to own this great table...I am just getting the TT set up kit!  I already have a table and with a 10 month old baby, no time to spin vinyl, though...that's a great deal on that table!

She's a factory Mk IV with full suspension.  The tiny foam pieces are still in the springs.  This 'table was originally setup by none other than Harry himself when Clinton was in office. :)

Purchased this from a reviewer/journalist in Brooklyn a couple of years ago.

when i first saw your ad for this deck, i thought the price was a bit high for this set-up.  now, a few days later, it seems a bit too low!   :o

otl, i dunno what happened to you that has forced you to relocate on such short notice, that you're blowing out your entire rig at what now seems to be fire-sale prices, but i hope you are ok...

best,
