Most don't know this bit of VMPS history, but Brian designed and developed his first subs to be used as stands for the famous QUAD ESL63 speaker.

Since the QUAD's design was not your typical dynamic cone, a Sub was needed that had the same timing and speed of the Quad.

The sub at that time was called the Symmetry Subwoofer and was designed to cross over at 175Hz to the QUAD.  It worked so well due to its low travel, low inertia woofer and Passive Radiator that that it was also used quite often with the Magneplanar and Magnepan planar speakers for the exact same reason.

B, used high volume cabinets (nothing succeeds in a SUB like cubic inches) offered exceptionally high speed, low distortion, with DEEP BASS power using BIG stiff light driver cones.

After much thought and brainstorming Brian decided to call his first sub design "THE ORIGINAL SUB" :green:

Eventually he built a larger sub and again after much thought called it "THE LARGER SUB".

And of course many of you know that he also then built a smaller sub, which was then called "THE SMALLER SUB".

And that was the first sub line up from VMPS.

Now Brian has continued to follow the same strategies and design principles in building today's selection of SUBS which of course work better than anything for our own VMPS PLANAR/RIBBON models, but also are the right path for most of our fellow planar, ribbon, and stat users.

So if you have Maggies, BG's, Infinity, NuFORM, Genesis, Carver Amazings, Apogees or any of a number of vintage Planar/ElectroStatic/Ribbon speakers, these are SUBS that should be seriously considered for the best sonic integration you might find.
