Hello: Well I just love my VHP-2 head-amp, but I would like to change the volume control knob with something with some reference line or someting, as right now I can't really see where my volume knob is, in relation to the dots on the front housing.
Does anyone have a good link for some good looking knobs, although the factory know looks great, I need something either black with white markings or something that stands out in the low light! I tried a small line with a black marker, which works but I still have to squint to see where it is. What size is the shaft and what do I need to remove it? ( Allen wrench?) Thanks, Huck

You'll need a 1.5mm hex wrench to remove the knob...shaft diameter is 6mm. I'm not sure why the factory knob/reference marks won't work for you. You should really be setting the volume by ear rather than the marks as recording volume will vary greatly from disc to disc.

You could use something a hacksaw or similar to carefully add a groove on the side of the knob in addition to the machined dot on the front.

Why not carefully add a dot of black paint where the drilled in depression is on the factory knob?

If you really insist on getting a new knob how about a really cool wooden one with brass inserts from:

That's the simple solution. Just go to your local hobby store and get a little bottle of Testors model paint.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I just made a horizontal line from the center to the dot with a Sharpie and that seems to work! Thanks, Huck

And you wouldn't believe how much more open and dynamic it will make the music sound.
