Hello   James  is the new Bot still happening. I figure you have obtained a different drive by now since I think it was said that the LG would replace the  Panasonic loader ...

Thanks, so you have enough drives to make the Bot if ordered... ?

I was wondering  if we can use  any external optical drive that is USB driven to copy and play CDs into the BP3...I'm not great at computer things but seems to me this should work like the  BOT  in case there isn't the BOT in the future ..thanks folks.

I tried an LG USB DVD drive on my BDP2 a couple of years ago and it worked fine.

Cheers!

Hello  James . When the  BOT design is resumed would it possible to employ a tray loader like what's in the  BCD3.?. This "Stream Unlimited" metal unit seems a very properly made device and  hopefully will be available for a long time to come...thanks  :thumb:

I doubt there will be a BOT-2. I remember Chris talking about this device and taking photos of the prototype after one (I suspect) long night of working. In the end, the actual product Bryston delivered was half the size in order to save on material. I doubt it sold very well since it is almost impossible to get a straightforward answer about any of it's functions. My guess is that the price has to be high in oeder to cover the cost of time spent developing the software to support it. In the end, it amounts to a conventional computer ROM drive mounted inside a steel chassis.

Well James is there any truth to this BOT 2 issue ? Will there be a new version eventually? I hope so  because how else can we play and store our cd collections and still retain the Bryston quality?

Well if that's the case  I will buy an extra BCD3 as a back up  to be able to play my cd collection far into the future... I have already purchased an extra drive for the BCD3 in case of failure and not to be let down like  Phillips did to us on the BCD1.... I guess  I'm the  "Spinner" because I prefer to load and play discs like the old days..it's the ritual. :thumb.

I still don't get the marketing for BOT-1. If someone wants to play a CD, buy a BCD. If rip a CD to play the ripped files, then buy a BDP (ripping can be done with any computer/free software like XLD for Mac, dBpoweramp, etc). With a BOT, methinks you still need to have a BDP....?

So let me get this clear ..if there is no more  BOT available I can load my cds onto a BDP3 using some other brand disk drive  like an LG  I hope Bryston will remake the BOT because I admire the build as well as the purpose..it's a substantially made component .... :thumb:

That is all correct and you can still buy a BOT it just isn't on the price list any more is my understanding
