I am continually surprised by how much HD programming is available via major networks free over the air.  I use DISH 811 HDTV receiver and have a Channel Master antenna, which picks up every local station.

It almost seems like the majority of primetime network programming is now broadcast in HDTV.  Flip the channel, and there it is again, HDTV.  Most programming is NOT HDTV during daytime and off-peak hours, but I"m not watching TV during these times, either.

It was a real pleasure to watch the Superbowl and Academy awards in HDTV for the first time, FREE over the air.  Jay Lenno, CSI, Wil and Grace, Star Trek, and numerous other shows are now in HD.

BTW, the PQ of OTA non-HD channels will simply blow away the non-HD same channels over satellite and digital cable, over the same receiver/TV.  IMO it's not even an option not to have a good OTA UHF antenna.

I've been spending a huge amount of time on this stuff and in my opinion, the technology needs a bit more time to mature but having said that, programming that was shot in HD originally and not just uprezzed DVD movies, is so damn good it will make your dick hard.

Great! Now I can cancel the viagra prescriptions and get an HDTV.

Let's see   "Oh Honey ......Lets watch Freinds reruns tonight

I ended up not getting anywhere with the dish people.  They didn't give a rat ass if I bailed for cable or not.  So, I did, for the time being.  I'm still trying to work something out to weasel back in as a new customer and get a free HD box, DVR box and Superdish.  Thanks for all the input!

came home today and cable was shut off-payment is 10 days late-46.00$
called and asked wtf was up,was told payment is due before you actually use the month, my bill says 46$ due on the 10th.
well it was a mistake and dont they offer to rehookup if i go digital for 15$ a month more.

so one went the stereo, noticed it sounded different-finally found the line noise i couldnt get rid of-the dam cable, even with a ground lift from a ac member i still had a very slight hum that could be heard about a inch or so from speakers-the cable was grounded to my out side water spicket, and was sending noise back thru the ground and into the power lines i guess.this might be the reason behind a phantom hum that comes and goes also

well i guess ill be spending the weekend looking into a dish, call the few people i know whith it and ask questions.dish network has a nice deal  going-and my area has local on dish.

Question time.  First, background.  I'm currently a dish subscriber and have been for years.  I've got a 50" HD ready tv and a 21" direct view in the bedroom.  I also subscribe to cable because those bastards want a $10 surcharge for cable internet service if you don't subscribe to cable, so, we just get antenna service form them.  Charter is our cable provider and they, amazingly, aren't that bad customer service wise.

Now to the question.  This whole viacom / dish fight has gotten me thinking.  I don't ...

My answer is voom tv it is sattelite but all high def it is costly but great.

Charter vs Dish

I had charter till last year(not wanting to pay the extra ten bucks for internet ). The HD channels were minimal and would keep freezing.
Changed to dish found that you need the 2nd dish for the HD channels.
This can also be used for the local channels.Go with Dish for now. They just added TNTHD for free and are also trying to get all local HD channels for people who cant get OTA HD. (Like me. I have a big hill interfering with OTA reception)
