Title: Super 3 BPC Question
Post by: AudioDwebe on 24 Jun 2023, 09:10 pm
Hello,

I just picked up a BPC and am a bit confused about speaker connection.

Does anyone know what the various configurations are?  I’m guessing if I biwire the connection both speakers would be in phase, but since the speakers are facing the opposite directions, would it play as out of phase?

If anyone knows, I’d really appreciate the info.

Thanks,

Mamoru

They are bipole if the drivers are both wired positive amp to positive speaker.
You can just run the front driver and you could low pass the rear driver making them a 1.5 way.

If you wire one driver positive amp to negative speaker they would be dipole and probably lack bass on their own, if you use subwoofers no problem.

With the drivers wired in parallel they are @4 ohms, with the drivers wired in series they are @16 ohms.

Thank you.

Bipole/dipole - check.

How do you wire for series and parallel?

Thanks again.

Scroll down to the first 2 pictures.

For parallel you can use jumpers between the upper and lower inputs like the picture or you can run 2 pairs of wires from amp to each speaker, 1 pair (+/-) to upper input and 1 pair (+/-) to lower input.

I thought I understood, but now I’m confused.

So if I run the speakers like I would an ordinary biwire speaker (one +/- at amp end and two +/- at speaker end of each speaker) does that mean the BPC would be a 4 ohm Bipole?  So in this case biwiring them would essentially be playing the speakers in parallel?

Thanks again for your help.

Yes and if you reverse one connection at the speaker it would be dipole at 4 ohms.

Bipole = both drivers move out at the same time = both connections + to +
Dipole = one driver moves out and other driver moves in = 1 connection + to + and 1 connection + to -

Understood.

Thank you so very much.
