Title: Car Receiver Recommendation Please
Post by: Doublej on 4 May 2013, 02:37 am
I need a recommendation for a basic decent sounding car receiver. It's for an old car, a 1999 CRV so I don't want anything extravagant. Anyone got a recommendation for a brand or specfic model number.

I really like Pioneer and they make several double din models that would fit in your 1999 CRV.  I would also see if you could package a deal that includes a pair of Pioneer separate speakers for the fronts as it will make a world of difference.

Hint:

Great deals can be had on discontinued models!

If you get one with a USB jack, you can get a small HDD and load up a bunch of tunes.
I've got a 750GB HDD that's about 10% full with about 9000 mp3 tunes.
To date, I've not seen one (reasonably priced) that plays FLAC.

Here's what I did with my vehicle (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=104873.msg1069742#msg1069742)

I couldn't be happier with it and they usually are on sale...
