Title: Which color do your prefer for TC Sounds driver on HT3's?

Not sure if Jim can get the silver ones anymore, but I was curious what people thought.

I am definitely on the 'bad boys wear black' side.

I'd go for the black version of the W18 if it were my speakers...and a Millenium tweeter over the ribbon....but that is another story...

Yes, I had a choice in both the woofer and tweeter IIRC.

For sure I had a choice in the tweeter, and I'm pretty sure I had a choice in the woofer, but my memory is a bit sketchy on that.

I asked for black because I didn't want any reflections or distractions from the speakers when I watched movies. With a different finish in a lit room, I might choose silver.

I voted silver, but I can jump either way depends on what the wood/veneer used.

I didn't vote for either...  I've silver on Walnut and am very happy with the look, but perhaps a black driver would be a bit less distracting to the eye and  allow the wood grain to 'take the stage' a tad better?  The opposite being true with the lighter woods....

I too ask for black since my wood is going to be black.    Most important is of cousre the sound, as long as there is no sound difference.

That would be me not paying attention to the header again, once Josh mentioned the W18's in his comment I was toast.... bright shiny objects attract me too.  Yes I do have the black TC's and the W18's can draw some attention to themselves.  Now that I've been thinking about it though, if the mid drivers were black as well, the total look could come off as too dark... the contrast works for me!!!

Just to set the record straight, the black cones were a mistake made by TC Sounds.  They are, for the most part, all gone now.  All future woofers will be silver.  In order to get more black, I would have to purchase a manufacturing run and it is simply not cost-justifiable.

Jim,

Ignore the vote!  This falls under the "Everyone wants what they can't have" category!  Your speakers look and sound beautiful with any color woofer! OK, maybe pink would be a stretch!

I can get cones anodized any color as long as I purchase a manufacturing run.  So if you think you might like pink...
