An interesting observation was how well they played at low volumes.
That's one of the first things I noticed about the 20.7s.
The smaller models (3.7 on down) can't do that trick.

My 20.7s play at low volumes really well. It did take a LONG time for them to break in to play at low volumes really well.
(the main issue was dynamics. low level material Like in Classical music, would 'fall off' the stage.. and it took months and month of play to have them not do that. The break in might have taken a long time because I generally play at low volumes all the time. But I am playing them all day every day...

Wasn't it. First time I've heard that the 3.7 can't do it. Wonder why?

I'm thinking it has to do with the magnets.
You need some volume to perk up the smaller ones.

That's why I was always harping on bringing the 20.7 technology down into a smaller package.

They really need a higher end speaker for small spaces, don't they. (Or large spaces and a wife who doesn't see the charm in "2001.")

That they do.
Maybe they'll surprise us some day.
