RM30 Midrange
« on: 29 Jan 2024, 03:28 am »
I have learned to replace ribbons in my tweeters and I have some spare 6.5 inch woofers but I am starting to worry about my midrange..

I looked on Ebay and generally googled Monsoon-MM700 etc and didn't see anything available.

So far I am OK but I just wanted some Insurance in case one messes up -

Is there any way to find a replacement short of buying a pair of backup RM-30s ?

Yes; however, they are getting much harder to find on eBay. A set was just sold today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/166561233092 and a couple sets back in November. There are posts on this circle on how to identify and perform modification as Brian did. See #4 and #9 of this thread: https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=170897.msg1813464#msg1813464

Between my VR-60, RM-40, LRC, and 626's I have 23 panels in use and have a 30 year sparing plan. This requires a decent cache of spares. In my experience, the panels have proven to be exceptionally reliable. I have easily 23,000 hours of use and have had events that vaporized tweeters, blown amp fuses and yet have never had a single panel failure. If you ever actually have a defective panel, reach out and I'll get you sorted, that goes for Shaukat and Ken. Thanks again for going in with the group buy for the 6.5" Misco drivers. Also, if the cache gets large enough I will PM you before listing on AC.

Thanks

I do have a pair of 626R for rear channel speakers and I could sacrifice them since I could use smaller or in wall rear. But they are beautiful speakers.

Actually I have been experimenting with  Acourate (https://www.audiovero.de/en/)- Digital Room correction software that does crossovers and you can setup a trinaural system so I could use one 626 in the center and sacrifice the other
