+2 That detail really finishes the speakers and make them look cohesive.

Outstanding build - I love how you integrated the monitors into the sub platform.  Awesome.

+1!!!

Really love the creative way you integrated the monitors, even including the cool grill shape.  Danny should steal that idea from you post haste :P

+2 That detail really finishes the speakers and make them look cohesive.

Thanks guys.  To top it all off they sound great too!👍

Best,
Ed

A couple more builds completed since my entry in 2013, hard to believe this thread started that long ago.

The original Wedgie, I love this speaker:

The bass section ultimately didn’t work for me, I believe I built it too small and the output of the drivers had a negative impact on each other.  I am currently (not actively :duh:) revisiting this speaker with a different bass solution.

NX Otica MTM with Stereo H Frame Servo Bass (my Current speaker):
This is a great speaker, easily fills my largish space, excellent imaging and beautiful tone.  I learned a lot about finishing on this build thanks to this community.

Best,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Beautiful work as always, thanks for sharing and hope all is well with you.

I really valued all the pics others have uploaded. Figured it's only right to pay it forward.

X-LS Encore.

Just completed a pair of GR A/V-3 MTM's. They are easily the nicest sounding speakers I have ever owned. Am very pleased with the image they produce, even in what is obviously not an optimized room environment.

Looking through this thread I see we need some of the new NX-Studio Monitors. Just built these for my dad. (March 2020 Right as the world was catching the flu.)

These are Danny's newest design at the time of this posting. They are a hybrid design with an open baffle tweeter and a sealed box lower section. Designed to be able to be placed close to the wall but work great well out in the room as well. And as the name implies they are great for monitoring as well. I can hear the subtlest if details. Great tone and incredibly smooth sounding.

This is one impressive sounding speaker! Truly world class high end audio! Many thanks to Danny for your contributions to the audio world! :thumb:

Cheers!

Thanks guys! But he did pay for them, I provided the research and construction. I'm sure he will love them if and when it is safe for me to deliver and set them up for him. It was  a fun project and I am enjoying my unexpected extra time with them.

Sonicjoy,

Have you thought about building speakers as a way to make a few $$ during this time of whatever?

Funny you should ask because I have. However getting materials is proving to be a problem now. Danny is having trouble getting stuff as well. The outfit I get my wood and MDF from is now closed until further notice and I live on an island so running to Home Depot is problematic as well.

Good thought though.

Built some X-statics to match the decor in our living room. Easiest way to get them wife approved.  :thumb: Will eventually have the X-voce in a matching finish, with some AV-Os as surrounds.

The X-Omni is the surround for the X-Statik, not the A/V-O. The X-Omni does exist. It’s the save as the A/V-O but uses the same drivers as the X-Statik and X-Voce

I appreciate the info, but I'll be using the A/V-O because I already have them built and working. More of a repurposing than anything. The X-Statics replaced them as the L/R

Edit: They do get pulled out into the room when I'm listening to music. For everyday TV though they stay back and out of the way.
