HX300 vs A370PEQ power output
« on: 31 Jan 2021, 06:24 pm »
What is the difference in power output between the HX300 and A370PEQ ?
Can the HX300 power 3 drivers probably 16 ohm?

Found the answer to my question they are both only 200 w rms.   I am a little surprised that is not much power for a sub but everyone seems to praise them so it must be sufficient .
I am a little concerned that 200 w x 2  so 400 w in a room 22 x 23 will be sufficient.
Any thoughts out there ?

Neither of those amps are rated at 200 watts.

The HX300 is a 300 watt amp. The A370PEQ is a 370 watt amp.

The HX300 model is out of stock and is about to be superseded by a new model.

The HX300-12OB model that is being superseded runs 3x12" 16 ohm GR subs in my system.

I run 4-HX300-12OB servo amps with my 2-6x12" servo sub towers.

I have a pair of XH300s running the dual 8" OB stands that I got from Danny.
It lacks the Parametric EQ functionality of my Rythmik L12, and the more powerful A370PEQ which also has speaker level input, but they both do everything I need them to. :thumb:

Wow so you are running twelve 12 inch OB subs ?
How big is your room?

The room is 10'hx16'wx25'l.

Designed and build as a listening room 26 years ago.

Pipe organ is reproduced as it should be heard live.

My room is 22 x 23 x 8  and really sucks up the bass so i am just trying to get an idea if 2 x 3 x 12 in  OB subs would give me the impact i am looking for.

Is the A370PEQ configured as a mono amp or is 1 channel left unused ?
So 370 watts mono or is that stereo ?

The A370PEQ has one servo amp channel output.  It sums inputs to mono if stereo.  You can also only use one input.

A few years later now, and could not find news about the new model?

To my knowledge, the HX310 amp hasn't been made available for OB use like the old HX300 was, but we have been shipping them for sealed subs, and they've added the PEQ feature from the larger models.
