If you can pick up some NOS Tung Sol 6SL7s from the 60's or before, those are some of the best I've heard.  National Union and Ken Rad are a close 2nd to the Tung Sols.  But really, go for the Tung Sols especially if you love big tube sound.

JAN CHS 6SL7GT VT-229/Sylvania.

I like to have a few extra sets laying around...

Sylvanias are also quite good.  Better than RCA and much better than GE.
