Maximum JPEG size for display

I have a BDP-pi.  I'm using MM 2.36.  What is the maximum size of JPEG that the LCD display on the BDP-pi and the display on Manic Moose will accept?  There appears to be some sort of conversion to reduce or upsize the JPEG to fit the available space.  I've used numerous JPEGs of cover art from the Internet, and neither the BDP-pi nor MM has choked on these files.  But surely there's a limit.  What is it?

I'm not sure, but big assuming there isn't an artificial limitation put in place in a python (the language used to manage the front of a BDP-Pi) config file that I'm unaware of.  Those system have nearly a 1GB of system memory, of which about 70-65% is available for buffering music and processing images files and other data.

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of manufacturing some JPEGs of my own for recordings for which I've found nothing suitable online, and I want to know of any size limitations.
