Well I knew it was coming but it's still a bit of a rude shock. 32-bit apps won't run any more. Like the shift to Intel all over again.
Solution is a virtual machine. FWIW if you run VMs on a Mac, I've decided that VMWare are losing it, version 11.5 (which is the only version that runs on Catalina) has serious "issues" if you need to run older versions of OSX. Had to bite the bullet and switch to Parallels.
