I see what I've done wrong. However, it did make for a neat effect. 
The camera was located on a tripod in my kitchen, aimed at the back deck which already has 4" of snow. In ten seconds, 264 pictures show about one more inch accumulation. I think I set the shutter to open every 30 seconds. Manual focus was turned off, but all other "auto" settings are at the Nikon D200 default.
Once I learn how to use the unit, I'll get better.

Screwing up the lighting dis give me some ideas for future time lapse sequences. If nothing else, I can learn from my mistakes and make something positive come from them. 

That's actually not a cooler. It's an electric smoker.
But it sure would do well keeping the 'ritas cold right now!
