The Analogue Store in Four Oaks, NC appears to be the closest shop to me. Has anyone used their services and if so were you satisfied?
Thanks.....

I've known Alex Lok, the proprietor, for about a decade. He is honest and does good work. He had his own very successful audio stores in Hartford back in 70s-80s, then moved to NC and worked for Audio Advice for about 12 years, then he opened his own store in Garner, then moved it to Raleigh, then retired the store and works from his home shop now. He has always done mail order repairs, even big heavy stuff. He was a Quad dealer, and for a while he was the only factory authorized Quad ESL repairman in the country outside of the distributor in MA. He repaired a tube amp and an FM receiver for me.

Thank you gentlemen. Analogue Store is only an hour and a half from me (now in Four Oaks, NC). I'll give him a try as he promptly responded to my email this morning.

Blackie Pagano, New York City, NY

Highly skilled and great service!

That's Bill Thalman's shop. He's excellent on all gear, but he's the absolute go to guy for Technics SP-10 series turntables and other direct drives as well. He has just hunted down a transformer for my Victor TT-81 that was unobtanium.
Another specialist: Dodd audio repair- find Charlie Cocci in MA.

Mark Weiss at Amplifier Experts out of CT. He does mail in but I have driven there several times to have gear looked at. Extremely reasonable and not just some self learned person doing repairs. He has patents and does repair on tube, SS and reel to reel machines, no tapedecks etc... Excellent communication and will not up charge for non existent fixes. Need to call him to make an appointment... his repair bench is quite full but will make space for you when you call him. He told me that he had people mailing him stuff out of CA.
Highly recommended.

I'll pm this to Steve as well.

Frank is a one man shop, but I couldn't give a higher recommendation. I've had numerous vintage pieces repaired there always with fabulous service. I don't know about mail order service, I've only gone there in person.

Is there no one in Texas?? I hate the risk and expense of shipping something to the east coast to get quality repair services.

Steve has two in Oklahoma in his op list, if that helps. Although one is a speaker repair place, I suppose that still counts. :thumb:

One claims to be solid state repair (and confirmed by his photos of gear), and the other is a speaker rebuilder (which I can do myself). I've got an interest in a turntable guy and a tube guys. There are shops in Austin and Houston, but I know little about them.
-
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I no longer live in New Jersey so don't get Frank's great service anymore. But my record store buddy here in PA has recommendations for vinyl service, at least they have carts and stylus, and a repair guy. Luckily I haven't needed anything yet, knock on wood. But I found Audio Tronics by chance, give somebody a small job and see how it goes.

Thanks for posting that, these shops are drying up.

In Illinois:
Unfortunately, It seams all the reviews say these shops are inconsistent but here are a few I know of.
Deltronics https://www.deltronics.com/
Midwest Audio http://www.midwestaudio.net/
stereorehab https://stereorehab.wordpress.com/
electronic engineers inc https://www.yelp.com/biz/electronic-engineers-inc-chicago
I will probably ship to anywhere where there is a good shop to repair my 2 Denon POA-6600A 's.
If anyone has a suggestion on a high quality shop for such an animal.

To share a couple of suppliers I have used and found helpful for restoring my vintage Revox audio equipment.
Nagravox, Australia. Sells full restoration and overhaul kits for the Revox series, with well written installation instructions.

revox-online, Germany. For specific and those hard-to-find Revox parts. Also sells used or reconditioned parts from salvaged Revox machines.
