Title: when is capacitor esr too low oscillation

Hi And thanks for reading this post.

I am building an amplifier power supply and am going to parallel connect the capacitors to take advantage of lower esr.

But what is the esr goes too low and the power supply begins to oscillate, what is an easy way to tell if that problem is occuring.

Will there be a buzzing sound coming from the capacitors or from the speakers. Or will the power supply oscillate and damage the amplifer without any warning.

That's what an oscilloscope is for.
Anyone that modifies circuits in this way or rolls op-amps needs an O-scope.

I just saw this sentence in a DIY forum.

Placing 0.1uF of low esr cap across the output of a regulator is a good way to invite instability, which might sound like 'brighter treble'. Its a very common mistake.

Morel: don't mess with things that are working.
