Hi all! Newbie from HK
« on: 24 Sep 2017, 09:09 am »
Hi all! I'm an absolute novice. Found my way here because I was googling for info on the TPA3116 amp. I'm using an old 5.1 connecting it to a 2.1 (sacrilege, I know!) and mostly trying to understand more. I'm mostly going to be buying Chinese boards for amps (I've got a sanwu 3116d2 2.1 incoming) until I've got the budget to upgrade other stuff. Thanks for all the helpful posts!
Now time to head back to lurking and head scratching. =]

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome.

It's a great time to be a frugal audiophile.  $500 can get you good quality audio:  a $200 thumb drive sized DAC to your computer for a source;  spend $20/month to subscribe to Tidal for CD quality music;  add $300/pair quality active monitors for desktop/small room listening or find cheap chip amps and DIY speaker kits from Parts Express (for example).

You should look at JBL speakers like the LSR 305 or the Studio 230 in HK. They are very popular in Asia, particularly Japan.
