Greetings and Salutations
« on: 23 Apr 2020, 08:08 pm »
Much appreciation for allowing me to join.  I am enjoying this new found joy of audiophilia.  It's a comfort to be around others who are never quite done acquiring audio equipment ,and reveling in every permutation of a listening setup.  It is a road, and not a destination.  I look forward to reading and interacting.

To start, what are your reference albums, when your are putting a system through its paces?

My Most Fun Listening Albums:
Maxwell - Urban Hang Suite
Steely Dan - Aja
Me'Shell Ndege Ocello - Peace Beyond Passion
Gerald Clayton Trio - Two Shade
Michael Franks - Sleeping Gypsy
Dan Fogelberg - Netherlands
Jill Scott - Who Is Jill Scott  Words And Sounds Vol. 1
Sade - Promise (or anything else...)

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I should have gone upstairs and greeted my wife, but I can't walk away from my new desktop setup.  REALLY enjoying this as a new discovery.  Have only recently learned to setup the PC with USB out to a DAC, and then on to a pre-amp.  What an amazing change.

Source: My HP desktop with MP3 and FLAC music files through iTunes or VLC players
DAC / PREAMP - Schiit Jotunheim
AMP - Carver TFM-15CB - fully reconditioned by Roland Barr at Hi-Tech Audio
Speakers - Totem Dreamcatchers
Sub - Klipsch R-10SW

Thanks again for the warm welcomes.  Question to the group on Turntables.  I am waffling between a NEW Schiit Sol, and a USED Music Hall (unless I can luck out and find a VPI TT I can afford).

Any experiences with the Schiit Sol, or the Music Hall 7 or higher to share?

Thanks in advance!!

My reference albums are some bad recorded from the 60/70 to listen the performance in real life conditions, top quality recording give a unrealistic performance that the system will rarely reach again.

Its another audio magazine gimmick to mock the audio phool.
