Tubed pre comparo
« on: 24 Oct 2010, 03:54 pm »
Just came back from latest NY Rave with another members Bella tubed pre to compare against the Niteshade Beacon Two I have for next week.

Was wondering if any mid-A folks would like to join me in an informal GTG to listen to them, and get to know each other.

I'm looking at next Saturday, say 1 to 5pm. I'm in Oxford PA, drive up 95 to last MD exit, ex 100, and I'm 15 mins. from ex 100 to my driveway.

Hmmm, no interest, kinda a shame.

Anyway, offer stands, I have 2 or 3 folks stopping by this Saturday to audition a Niteshade Beacon Two vs. a Bella tubed pre.

I just put a new Ortofon cartridge in the tt, so folks can bring their favorite vinyl to see if it's true that tubes and vinyl go together.

Here's the Beacon Two just waiting.

I got other things going on this Saturday.  You are welcome to bring your Beacon down to Vienna, Va later and compare it with Purity (developed from the Bella) preamp that I just received.

I too would obviously interested in hearing what people had to say about the Bella. I believe I know what preamp you might have but if you could confirm who's unit you have, it would be greatly appreciated.

I know Niteshade makes some great gear and it would be interesting to hear their different characteristics.

If anyone makes it over to woodsyi's place to hear the Purity Silver Statement, I would really like to hear your thoughts on this one as well.

Thanks woodsyi for extending the offer for people to come and hear the unit at your place.

You're a fine citizen! I have an ulterior motive for trying to get folks together, I'd like to see some form of regular, or semi-regular GTG going. I see there used to be a DC audio group, but no meetings lately.

Through Shadowlight I was introduced to the NY Ravers, and they've been great to know, (being bounced from AC notwithstanding), but their GTGs are a drive, anything actually in the city, or God help me, out on the Island, I just skip.

And NC crew seems to be a regular meeting bunch.

So how is it Mid-A, with PHL, BAL and DC, can't get enough people together to meet? So I said to myself, "myself, maybe someone just needs to send an invitation to get the ball rolling", and that's what this Saturday is.,

Well, I still have a few folks coming in this Saturday, you're more than welcome to join.

If not, then we take Woodsyi up on his offer in the near future, and try to juggle something between the holidays.
