Here is one of my amps.

What is that?  Looks like a 211 output tube?

I have a few SET amps that I cycle between.  Right now I'm really loving my Almarro A318B (hotrodded) amp driving Klipsch Heresy IIIs in my upstairs system:

I have built a couple of the Bottlehead amps, the original Stereomour 2A3 and the Kaiju 300b with the DC filament kit.  Both amps have great sound when paired with the right speakers.  The 2A3 amp I used with the 96dB efficient GR Research V-1, the Servo subs had their own amps so it was only driving the Coax from 200Hz and up.  The Kaiju I built for the 94dB efficient GR Reseach Wedgies, again the Wedgies are supported by the Servo subs but in this case I High passed the amp 70HZ, so the Wedgies were getting more bass, and bass is what the Kaiju gives you, really outstanding bass, yes it is high passed, the bass texture is excellent.  It also drives my GR Rearch NX Otica MTMs very well, the bass shines with these speakers.

Some Stereomour Pics:

All of these units look beautiful any recommendation for Low powered units to drive 97.5 Daedalus Poseidon- speakers  they need 3 watts plus as per species. .So I have looked at  Deware 84Ckcs  but they are only 2 watts  others on my  list are Allnic 1500 MK 2 ,  Allnic M300   Airgtight 300R (very expensive)

Correct it’s a 211 integrated manufactured by Transcription Audio here in the UK. No two of their amps are the same. This one has C core output transformers.

Most have this big capacitor fitted

Thanks man!  Here's the really crazy thing about the amp.  You see there's 3 transformers on the top of it, and you think, "wow those are really big output transformers on the side, but that power transformer in the middle looks a bit wimpy".  But, that middle transformer is NOT the power transformer, it's the CHOKE!!!!

No, if you open it up, you can see the actual power transformer is this HUGE industrial scale transformer that takes up 50% of the space inside the amp:

Yeah, it's CRAZY!!  I'd say 70% of the entire amp is basically just giant transformers, haha.

And of course I couldn't leave it "as is", as I like to tinker.  So things I've done to improve it:

1. Bypass the volume pot
2. Bypass the input selector switch
3. Replace all internal wiring with UP-OCC wire from VH Audio
4. Jupiter Copper coupling caps
5. Teflon Film output caps
6. Miflex Copper foil bypass cap on the power supply
7. ETI UP-OCC input RCA jacks
8. Pure Copper, low mass Furutech binding posts
9. Tung Sol 6SL7 and 6SN7 tubes from the 1950's

It started out as an excellent sounding amp, and with all the changes (each one was small, but they were cumulative), I'd say it's one of the very best amps I've ever heard.  18 watts of pure SET bliss.

Personally, I'd be looking at bigger amps. Sensitivity isn't the whole picture and imo a speaker like that is often best with a larger amp.

My 2A3 monoblocks (5Y3, 6SN7, 2A3). These started out as George Wright WPA-3.5 amps. Over the past 15 years or so, I have done several rounds of component upgrades which eventually lead to building them into these larger chassis. They still have all the original iron, and the circuit is close to original, but most of the components have been upgraded. Better quality caps and resistors throughout. I'm using a CCS on the 6SN7 driver, and have a grid choke on the 2A3.

Hey!

Let's call this pic the "SET Cat"

It had been hotter than usual here in NYC this summer. I find my cat Sonny cuddling with my Bel Canto 845 SET. Sometime I'd find him literally sleeping with his back against the amp's all metal chassis to keep cool.... when the amp is off of course 8) Even with my A/C unit on I still find him cuddling with the amp! I'm getting jealous

Hey oldnuke - that is the best looking Bottlehead item I have ever seen.  Mine never looked anywhere near that good.  Heck, I was doing good to clearcoat the bases.
