“Odyssey” Logo LED Replacement
« on: 7 Jun 2024, 11:29 pm »
The “Odyssey” LEDs on the Tempest Preamp are out. I’ve soldered 4 new LEDs, but keep burning out after a split second.
The new blue LEDs are rated 3V 20mA LEDs. Then I measured the voltage from where the LEDs are fed. It measures 7.3VDC. I can’t get higher voltage blue LEDs. I also don’t see a current limiting resistor in series. Should I be using a 220 ohm series resistor?

I replaced the LEDs on the Stratos amp, but that was straight forward. How are people replacing LEDs? The unit is 18 years old, and I don’t want to bother Klaus, or pay for huge shipping, but having no display is a pain!

Thanks.
