Question re: D-100 & D-200 amps & RF
« on: 1 Jan 2006, 05:33 pm »
I have been reading a lot of information online on class D amps, and have been reading the critcism re: the Nuforce amps and their RF "leakage" and the problems they cause for any tuners nearby.

Are the D-100 and D-200 amps free from this type of RF "leaking"/ interference?  Does the case and/or internal design prevent this from happening?

Thanks!

dc-guy:
My CIA D-200 amps do not cause any interference with FM or TV reception. I don't know what causes the Fm and TV interference with the Nuforce amps but it has been an ongoing problem with them. I hope Jason and his partners at Nuforce can get this problem resolved. I don't know if other class D amps have this problem. Anybody out there know?

Some Class D's do have high RF (not ours). This is usually due to poor layout and part choices. Amplifiers using switching power supplies are also more likely to have RF.

Nuforce uses a switching powersupply. CI does not. That's why Nuforce has the RF issue. You can tell the difference just picking up each amp. A CI D-100 mono weighs about 14 lbs. A Nuforce mono weighs about 2 lbs.

Is there anyone in South Florida who owns the D200 and is willing to let me audition it.  Thanks :)
