Hello all! My name is Steve and I just joined AudioCircle. I would love to build my own speakers and am looking into the GR-Research X-Statiks. I am still trying to figure out if they will even fit in my room. Pulling them more than 36" out from the front wall will get pretty intrusive. Also looking for building tips / tricks / recommendations / best practices / Do's / Don'ts and any other useful info.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to Audio Circle. You can’t go wrong with any of Danny’s kits or upgrades to existing speakers. :thumb:
As for open baffle speakers like the X-Statiks, 36” is doable but more space between the front wall behind the speaker is better, even if it means temporarily pulling them out when you listen and moving them out of the way when you are done.

Thanks for the suggestion. This would actually be my first speaker cabinet build. Very excited to get started. A bit cold in my garage shop this time of year, but hope to get started as soon as I can.

So what does a guy have to do to actually use this site? I don't seem to have access to anything. When do the training wheels come off? Makes this site very limited in usefulness...

I think you can also get a kit for the Philhamintor which people here love, very flat frequency response.
