Idea for Super-V...

I'm all about simplicity and elegence, particularly if function follows form. So here's what I've been thinking about...

What if you built a V-1 / Super-V out of a single slab of 3 cm granite or slate? The base would be (maybe) a 6 cm slab, with a slot to insert and support the vertical (or slightly angled) 3 cm slab. Although not symmetrical, the servo subs would both face towards the front, but appropriately wired.

A grill could be made from No-Rez, and secured with pins. This would help control any slab ringing plus supress reflections from the slab.

The crossover and servo amps could be imbedded into the base slab.

This approach is interesting because a granite countertop company could produce the front / base slabs from a standard design.

Thoughts?

It sure would be complicated to make that work.

You'd be shifting the mass from the center of the speaker to just one baffle. That will be really hard to support and stabilize.

You'd have to add some deep side panels to support it and that would really open it up to cavity resonances.

In the end, you wouldn't gain anything.

That's fine. So long as it does not get deeper around the upper (P-Audio) driver.
