Joe Locke: Lay Down My Heart, Blues & Ballads Vol.1 '13
Hey Arthur, What can you tell me about this? It looks interesting. I like both, but have a lot more Joey in my collection than Van.
Gotta love the B3
Hey WannaBeHiFi, not a whole lot other than the obvious, two very talented & well respected musicians getting together. Long time Van fan, while I know of Joey, can't say I'm familiar with him except by name. Most of Van's work I'm aware of has been jazz oriented since around the 90's, ballads & standards. All excellent stuff imho. You're better versed on Joey, and will confess have thought about exploring more of his work lately. You can sample this offering by clicking on the embedded link in the album title. It's solid all the way imo.
As to B3, yep, only way to fly. Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Brother Jack McDuff, dr. Lonnie Smith, off the top of my head. Great music. So much music, so little time. Have a great weekend & keep 'em spinning.
