Burning in Capacitors
« on: 20 Oct 2022, 07:47 pm »
I've got a couple of MIflex Cu and several Mundorf Silver in oil and SilverGold in oil of different values that I need to burn in.  I'm going on vacation in a few days.
The plan is to strap them all in parallel to about 17 uF, put in front of a midwoofer, and leave it playing radio white noise.
Any issues with this plan?

A lot of amplifiers won't be happy with that load.
Note that film capacitors don't burn-in like electrolytics do.

I'm curious.  The midwoofer is 8 ohms across a full range.  If I put the caps in front of it, the load doesn't go down. If anything it should go up.  Nothing is in bypass to the circuit.  Why is this a difficult load?
???????
I hope you see this soon.  Leaving in a couple of hours.

Good question.  The fall season in west Texas has few storms.  We should be fine.
