Bryston BP-25 Phono stage ?
« on: 16 Sep 2022, 02:57 pm »
Hi All,
I'm getting back into vinyl, just purchased a new Technics SL-1500c turntable. Going to upgrade my Cartridge to a Nagaoka MP-200, but before I do, I'm wondering your thoughts on the quality of the Bryston BP-25 Phone stage ? Am I'm getting quality from the phono stage ?
There is no disputing Bryston's reputation on Amps & Preamps, just don't know the about the phono stage.

Is the BP-2 phono stage the same as the bp25/26 phono stage ? if so then I can just research the BP-2 reviews and opinions online.
thanks for the insight.
Cheers

Hi

Tha phono stage has not changed - only difference is the newer version is surface mount parts as opposed to hole-through parts.

I have the BP25P and I quite like the phono

So much that I sold my Rega Aria ($1900 stand-alone phono stage) and saved a device and a set of cables

My Dynavector 10X5 HOMC output is a little lower than your typical MM cartridge so I have use much more of the dial than with digital sources

My tt is an Rega RP6

Hope this helps you a little

Congrats on the SL-1500c, excellent choice.  Don't forget that table has a phono stage built in.  So take it for a spin too.

Hi Groove, I have read on other forums that the built-in preamp is pretty good. Haven't tried it out yet. Automatically plugged into my Bryston phono section. I would be surprised if it would outclass the Bryston, but I will play with A/B the two.
