Bryston BP 25 from green to red led indicator
« on: 26 Aug 2022, 08:20 am »
Hi can anyone explain the behaviour of the led indicator on a BP 25 pre amp?

When I wanted to play some music the led had become red while not have touched the amplifier (button/switches). Before it was green.
In the manual I see the explanation:
Quote
The three colour LED (light emitting diode) located on the front panel lights RED when the output is muted

But why was it muted (or is there another reason the pre amp led switches from green to red??

You say you didn’t touch the pre-amp, but do you have a remote? Could you have laid something on it that could’ve muted the unit?

No I didn't touch the remote neither, the preamp went from green to red on its own.

OK the only thing I can think of is its a defective sensor or LED.

?? But the LED can change from red to green (so it seems it's not defect). Could it be a short in the circuit causing the amp to mute the outputs??

Hi

I do not think so - I have heard that sometimes a code that is used on the remote can be similar to a code elsewhere in the environment.  So maybe changing the code on the remote may work.

Email Mike and give him the details and he may be able to help - mpickett@bryston.com
