Record producer Phil Spector was a genius. He produced “Be My Baby” by the Ronettes, “Then He Kissed Me” by the Crystals, “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Bros, “Chapel of Love”, “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”, “River Deep — Mountain High”, “Imagine,” “Let It Be”, “The Long and Winding Road”, “My Sweet Lord”, The Beatles album "Let it Be" and many more.
Phil also shot and killed actress Lana Clarkson in his mansion in Alhambra, California on February 3, 2003.

The new 4-part documentary on Showtime explores Phil's life with interviews with friends, singers, and grainy home movies. Meticulously researched, tightly edited and presented in a "Just the facts, ma'am" style. Darlene Love talks about singing the lead vocals on Spector’s 1962 hit “He’s a Rebel” — which was credited to one of Spector’s girl groups, the Crystals. Phil could be a real S.O.B. She went on to make many hit songs with Spector anyway, he had absolute control and the power to make you a star.

Spector also had a dark side, waving a gun around and making threats in recording sessions — and doing the same in his private life, according to a number of women who testified at his trial.

The sound track is extensive and deep, I lived all this music, it was the soundtrack to my life. I never followed Spector's personal story, a lot of this is new to me. Check it out.

“Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Bros. This didn't seem right to me and I found this:
This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did. In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' and the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof.
