Working on a pair of NX-Studios, just waiting on the cabs. I'll keep updating the build.

You just need to turn the smaller choke 90°.

Yup sure do. Whoops.

Quick and easy fix.

Heres the rest of the studio build.
Didn't cover the no rez installation because its pretty hard to mess up. Just measure out the shapes you need to cover as much surface area in the speaker as possible. It helps to draw out all the cuts you need on the sheet before cutting the minimize waste.
I put the crossover in with the large inductor towards the back. Gets a bunch of CA glue underneath and four small screws to secure it.

Then run the wires to the tube connectors out the back. It's very important to install them this way or else you'll wreck your hands with a soldering iron trying to reach them through the front of the speaker.

Once they are soldered on i use a soft plastic mallet to hammer them in. It's a very tight fit so make sure they are seated straight before you start wacking them.

Next up is installing the tweeter. I find it helpful to not install no rez in this area until after the tweeter is installed, not a lot of room to work here.
Using a 3/16 drill bit, eyeball a hole behind the tweeter to run the wires through. I strip the wire about 1 1/2in back and run the bare wire through the hole on at a time. You'll really have to pull hard to get the second wire through buts its better then having to refill the hole if you made it too big.

The Tweeter in these gets hooked reversed so white wire to + terminal and red wire to - terminal.

Fill the inside with as much insulation as you can fit without it touching the woofer. Doesn't need to be compressed and stuffed tight.

Woofer gets wired up.

After that everything should be done.

Here's the finished build. Cabinets and front baffles were done by Denton WoodWorkers. They do great work, email is below.

Nice looking build.
I've been using mine for several months now, surely they have several hundred hours on them by now. I swear they keep sounding better.
Yesterday a song came on - Summer, by War - it starts with a lot of light percussive sounds and then kettle/steel (?) drums come in - my head turned and my mouth opened. It wasn't even particularly loud but I couldn't believe how good it sounded. They keep surprising me! They replaced a pair of B&W Nautilus 805s and really it's no contest. They 805s don't sound bad, but these sound much better.

@Dentonwoodworkers, Could you show a pic of how you did the NoRez in the top shelf.
I think I did mine wrong, I put it on the sides as well as the ramp.
Thanks,
Wayne in Oregon.

It's only needed on the ramp, but it can be used on the sides as well
-
Thanks Hobbs.
The thing is I did such a poor job of cutting the NoRez that it looks terrible :duh: so I use the grill. What I don't like about the grill is it hangs over 3/8" to 1/2" on the inside blocking the sound. So I want to redo the NoRez, remove it from the sides and not use the grill.
Also someone had a thread going about using acoustic tile in lieu of Norez and I can't find that thread. It looked a lot cleaner.
Anyway Thanks,
Wayne in Oregon

A quick note on those, the NoRez does a great job controlling the sound from the ramp, and the BXI stuff does as well but retains a little more of that top end sizzle/sparkle sound. Depending on your gear and sound preferences, you can dress them up as you see fit. There is no wrong answer. Now back to giving :thumb: and props to Denton crew for a super clean & classy build. Nice work!
