Well . . . I pulled the plug on a very excellent sounding pair of Kismet Refs.
But . . . they take over the living room visually and my better half says: "no way"
So . . . if you have interest (and either a larger room, a more "understanding" partner, or it's just you), the sound is just phenomenal.
Top to bottom integration . . . extended airy highs with no fatigue . . . very impactful, tuneful and tight bottom end . . . great imaging
These speakers were specially made with the following upgrades:
-Special veneer (really quite beautiful)
-Alphacore cross over
-Groneberg Quatro Reference internal cables
My understanding is the speakers are from late 2019 with the retail price of $5500 at the time.
"Best-in-show" sound from Odyssey Audio!
A terrific value at $5500 . . . mine are in excellent condition and are half price at $2750.
As expected, they are another Odyssey overperformer. They punch way above their price, better than any other $10K speaker (except the liquids, of course), etc, etc . . . . we are in the Odyssey circle after all :)
Seriously folks . . . these are seriously great sounding.
There are a few very small cosmetic defects with the veneer at the bottom edges of one speaker and the bottom front edge of the other. I have taken clear pictures of these. They are on the bottom side edges, so hard to see unless you are really looking for them. Obviously, the pictures are close ups so look worse than in day-to-day life. Just being transparent.
I am in SoCal, near Westlake Village. Pickup is the only practical option (and bring a large vehicle:).

Get a new wife! Mine has put up with Magnepan 1.6's for 20 years along with a 6 tier rack, a 100lb Pass amp, 50lb preamp and 2lb DAC. Recently she has asked if I would not mind buying smaller speakers. So I am going to oblige her and also move to an integrated amp but keep my Luxman DAC. I figure I owe her for putting up with this hobby.

lol … I’ve already tried that ;(
-
I'm not making that trek again .

Buy an 86” tv, then the speakers won’t visually dominate the room

I appreciate the life advice guys :?

I tried that, but then TV dominated the room (the whole ground floor) and HiFi never got a look in until we moved!

close up photos of the defects added for your viewing pleasure.

:D one heck of a man cave ,,,, so much gear, so little time :D
-
So sorry you have to let them go! Mine are being completed sometime this month, and I'm quite excited to hear what I believe will be a tremendous upgrade to my 26 year old Meadowlark Audio Kestrel hotrods.
Will alert my buddy who lives in TO and turned me on to Odyssey.
Best of luck with the sale!
-
Thanks.
They sound great and I'm sure you will love them.
Best,
John

Still in my room . . . and they need to be gone.
Open to (please be reasonable) offers :D
-
Still in my room . . .
still need to not be . . .
still sound amazing . . .
But they need to be gone :(
Come and get ‘em :D

Hi,
My speakers dominate my room as well. I guess that is why I'm divorced now... Its cheaper to sell the speakers :).
Good luck Rod
-
Having, unfortunately, been there before it is much cheaper.

You'll have to pry my Maggies from my stiff, cold, dead fingers.
Ask my ex.
Magnepan vel mors.
edit: I have the large Maggies out in the "big room" being run by another builder on this board, but I have had occasion to drive them with Klaus's One-Eyed Lil' Beast Amp, and the Cyclops can drive the Maggies into that "Light Up" stage that they reach with sufficient current. Those of you who own these speakers and have no fear probably know what I'm talking about.

Pepperinca, Im sure youve considered other options, but any garage or basement you can convert to a listening room?
Im losing my 20 'x 30' listening room to fam members who need a place for awhile.
Wife told me " fix up the garage for the stereo". Unfortuneately we get 4 months of rough winters and I dont want to double heating bill. In CA that wouldnt be a problem. Just higher ac bill for a couple months.
-
I appreciate the suggestion. I thought of that, but would need to know put the cars out on the street and convert the garage to a listening room. I know Alan on this forum and he has a beautiful set up in his garage. It’s just not feasible for me.
-
Should have taken your wife when you looked at the speakers. You wouldnt be in this situation my freind.
-
Thank you for the sage advice.
I should have also bought Microsoft at $30 and sold Tesla at $400

Just a quick note to the group that these fantastic speakers are still available.
Beautiful veneer and "give away" price.
Make me an offer I can't refuse.
-
can't believe no one has bought these from you yet. maybe odyssey is too "underground" a brand
-
No one more surprised than me!
I thought someone would have picked them up in a heartbeat.
Fantastic sound and a beautiful wood finish. Seems like a great option for folks.
Anyway, thanks for the note!!
