Looks like there is an interesting exchange on advertisement/reviews on Stereophile

As anything in the media, when one is quite independently knowledgeable on a subject and reads what various journalists write, one can immediately figure out who is who. In general, I find these publications are skipping on key technical details -let's say about drivers, mobile mass, magnet field etc...- and keep focusing on the verbose way to say little over 4 pages. The probe never gets deep and many strawmen are used on a regular basis to add another paragraph. From time to time a useful bit emerges. It's fun for a casual reading just like fashion mags are...

"musical, musicality A personal judgment as to the degree to which reproduced sound resembles live music. Real musical sound is both accurate and euphonic, consonant and dissonant."  *

The important words there are..."A personal judgement"..

It is a great read, cheering me up after a weekend of being sick :)..   I find it questionable for J.A to make the comment about Bryston pulling advertising and then him along with the other writers claim that this doesn't matter to them..  Clearly it does, otherwise he wouldn't made that statement in AA, perhaps a poor choice of words.
