The larger ribbons (Aurum Cantus G1 / Fountek Pro5) will cross pretty low provided you don't mind the narrow vertical sweet spot.

ah...such is life, all about choosing our compromises.

If the price of admission doesn't disqualify it, the Raven R3.2MMX would be a good choice.  It is designed to cross over as low as 800hz with a 24dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley.  Impedance is 8 ohm and sensitivity is 98.5 dB.  It weighs 35 lbs -- a lot for a tweeter but half that of its predecessor Raven R3.1 .  MSRP is $1750 ea.

But it has the same vertical dispersion limitations as that of the G1, et al.

True, you'd have to accept a narrow vertical listening window.  Of course one could use multiple units in a line array

Cones have landed...

New Seas have arrived.  The black, mag-cones are a beautiful match for the black baffle on my enclosures - much nicer than the white-cone version IMO.  Phase plug is still a beautiful copper bullet.

I mounted them in that cabinets this morning, and will run some sine-sweeps using the DEQX during the next period of relative quiet here at Chaos Manor.

The Ravens sure look like a magnificent driver, but they'd certainly require an all-new enclosure.  I'm leaning towards building a pair of Orions, following this work.  If that happens, I'd use these Rhythms to replace my rear, ambience-recovery channels and bring the Orions up front.

OTOH, I now have four SS8545 mid-woofers and four great dome tweeters that need a home.  And, the speakers in my garage rig are junk...

Jim, any physical difference with the new SEAS driver?  I missed something, did they upgrade them?

Must be the W18e001 not the EX. Unless Seas is now making the W18Ex001 available in black. If they are let me know because I will order 2 on Monday :D

Not the EX

Minw use the standard magnet assembly.  I saw no virtue in the EX in terms of distortion performance or frequency response, though the EX is more efficient.  But, that's irrelevant in my application, since the DEQX compensates for driver efficiencies and the MTM configuration I'm using provides 2x greater efficiency in the midrange already.

The cones are black, instead of white.  That's the only difference.
