There's nothing wrong with the filter, you just need to brighten up the shadows\foreground with either a little curve or some Fill Light.

Thanks Nathan,
i'm a post processing retard.
I only take pictures. I need to sit my @$$ down and learn how to make them look better.

:nono: Wouldn't that be a civil rights violation for the grasshoppers.
I mean, come on dude, would YOU want a macro lens shoved in your business while you're doing your business?

Actually Andrikos should probably be banned for posting pornographic images!  But first I will start a 30-page thread to debate whether or not grasshopper hardcore ought to be allowed or not.  Many former friends will become enemies, many keyboards will overheat and many lives will be ruined.  But it will be worth it in the end!

You'll have to start a poll too, Nathan.

Um...... A few weeks ago I posted a photo of Walking Sticks mating.
I guess I'll need a time-out too.

Yeah, don't forget you're in Eye-Fidelity either!  I could have you disappeared forever if you cross the line of the stringent guidelines I have set forth!  Like for instance, if you posted something non-photographic or non-sharing-your-artistic-vision there would be hell to pay!  I sure wish someone would ask which compact flash card gives the best blacks, though.

Thank you dear overlord for not banning me.
I've been bad, my apologies... :D

Speaking of blacks. My sucky LCD screen is only 1,000:1 CR. What do I do about fixing the black level of the pictures with such poor reference point?
What do y'all pros do?

Put pointy cones under your monitor and place on a 12 inch thick slab of maple.  Raise up the monitor cable with big ceramic standoffs so it doesn't touch your desk.  If you have an opitcal mouse treat the lens with a green marker.  If anyone says this won't work don't listen to them, they haven't tried it now have they? :thankyou:

Under NO circumstances should you do this adjustment! :P

Of course, there are numerous ways to open up that foreground.  Fill Light works great too in Camera Raw\Lightroom\Shadow-Highlight in PS.  But then again, we don't know what software Andrikos is using.

It's a beautiful shot, good composition.  Even the banding from the polarizer isn't bad at all, and could probably be easily improved, IMO, with a little burning along the top left edge to smooth it out just a tad.  The warm cast in the original was also a nice touch.

He's using software?
If I say "MS picture manager"
Will I get kicked out of the I-fi forum?
If yes, then, no I'm not...  :o :D

Hmmm, never heard of MS Picture Manager.  Does it have image adjustment controls?  If so, you could try adjusting them.  Otherwise you'll get your just deserts.

Nice shot!

Yes, the owner came by for the dog several days later.  At least we think he was the owner.  The dog seemed to like him well enough, although the dog seemed to like everyone...

From a recent trip to our new "western division" coming back from a team meeting in Breckenridge.  Lovely drive!

Shot w/ D50, 18-55 kit lens and polarizer.  When I got back I immediately ordered the Nikkor 16-85 VRII lens since some shots didn't quite go the way I wanted to.

This is our "new western division" in the Golden Valley taken from Lookout Mtn.

This was w/ D50 and 70-300 VRII - very very hazy day, had rained all the previous day and night and misted pretty much all that day.  This place is HUGE.  I've been to all our breweries except for Trenton and this place dwarfs all of them.  It more than doubles brewing capacity at 22 m bbls / year than any of our others.

And the whole town smells like the brewery.  :)  This is might old neck of the woods (went to high school nearby and even did drivers ed up the side of Lookout Mountain).

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  It looks like you had great weather in Breck.

Amen to that. :) I grew up just on the other side of the mountain (hill), right around the corner from the right side of the pic. Lookout mountain, most memorable event was running out of brakes in a '63 mercury coming down the loop. couldn't stop for US6 and had to roll across it, thankfully we didn't get hit.

Nice shot of the aspens Pete.  :thumb:
