Back in the good ol' U.S. of A. We are so fortunate and blessed to have our freedoms. I hope everyone has had a good and safe holiday weekend. We sure had a fun party out at the farm with families, kids, swimming, hamburgers, hot-dogs and fireworks. The best!

If those are Sand Hill Cranes we get them in Sacramento during their migration.

Cranes?  Florida?

Yes - believe they are Sandhill Cranes (and in FL).  I went outside the pool screening and they were fine 6-8 feet away.

Please to Meat You!

I just couldn't resist sending you guys this shot... it's wild, but ya' gotta see this.

This scene is way out in a rural area of Bangladesh, where these butcher are preparing the
meat for an upcoming religious festival. They intend to serve approximately 25,000 meals by
mixing the meat with beans and rice in a simple stew. Their work station is on the floor in a
cleared out classroom of a village orphanage. Yes... they washed the floor before starting... at least
I think so.

** Here's are a few simple other tips I learned when handling meat. Make sure to pay attention to personal hygiene
and the cleanliness of your work space. In addition to washing your hands before returning to work, the Health Department
would like to remind you that it is mandatory to wear shoes and a shirt, use a head covering, keep meat at a regulated temperature,
use clean utensils and a clean cutting surface, that is preferably not the floor, store cut meat in an approved or authorized container, wear gloves when handling meat items
AND take all precautions not to contaminate food items you are handling. :thumb:

By the way, after slaughtering 1 buffalo and 7 cows, it took this team over 2 days to butcher all the meat. At night, these guys
actually slept in the same room with the meat... and that's no bull!

That's shocking. I can't imagine the heat, humidity, smell, and shear amount of flies buzzing around.
Those folks must have one hell of an immune system built up.  :?

It's also why they cook all meats well done to kill any bacteria.  No such thing as "medium rare" in regions with little or no refrigeration.  My first response when I saw that image was, "Ewwww"!

Hi all from planet Vietnam.
We have almost the same thing here on planet Vietnam,
but not as worst as what you saw on the picture
and it's mainly in the rural regions.
I've seen something like that with my own eyes,
but did not wanted to immortalize it on film or memory card.
I've seen many things that I won't share with you as some of you, I am sure,
are sensitive to things that are not part of our daily life.

Guy,

I think we need some "shock and awe" here in our all too comfortable world now and then.  Opens one's eyes to reality, one's consciousness to the incredibly diverse world we share.  I can understand and appreciate your desire to protect us, just don't over protect, please.  This is why I deeply appreciate bside and other international travelers and dwellers that share these images with us.  My mind is expanded by this exposure. (Sorry for the photo pun. )
