Title: Capitol Audio Fest 2014
Post by: Daedalus Audio on 17 Jul 2014, 07:21 pm
One more week and I am excited about this show!!!!  the latest tweeks in the speakers combined with Dan's new DAC (which is almost ready for production!) and his new phono, and some new Wywires cables tweeks mean we should have not one but two musical rooms.

Will post the gear list soon but we will have a set of the Ulysses v.2 in the big room and the debut of the Muse in our smaller room!

hope to see some of you there

Can this be joined with the preexisting CAF thread? Just to keep things simple...

Anything new from Daedalus, I'm gonna make a point of listening to. Their stuff is very musical.

these show some of the 2014 Daedalus prices which take effect Aug 1

I will still honor the intro pricing on the Muse ($6450) until then!

I think it is a VPI? nothing exotic, the real majic is in the new Modwright phono stage! this setup in Chicago was the first time I really had my head turned by vinyl.... and I have shown with some VERY high end tables.

Yes Lou

I have one of Thom Mackris' tables  - his ""mid level" Galibier Gavia
can't wait to hear their magic with the Ulysses V2

sounds like Modright has really brought some impressive stuff
Stereophile were very impress with your combo in Chicago

"...the room he shared with ModWright and WyWires had the best resolution of any display or demo at CAF this year. Period."

Best Sound CAF 2014

Thank You!!!!!

This was a joint effort, we had the new DAC and Phono from ModWright (plus Dan now has a dedicated show pre and KWA150 that are FULLY broken in!), New cable designs from WyWires that raised the bar and the latest design/upgrade changes in the Ulysses V.2 (which should really just be a new model).

Scot Hull is doing the best and most fair coverage in the biz, so this 'award ' from him means A LOT!!!!!

Congrats, Lou on a great show! This was my first audio show where Daedalus was exhibiting so it was interesting to be able to compare Lou's (and Dan's/Alex's) offerings with other systems under show conditions. Prior shows I always found myself comparing the sound in the various rooms with what I was hearing at home, which isn't really all that useful or fair. My takeaway from CAF was simply affirmation that there is something very special about Lou's speakers--an ability to draw you into the performance in a way that allows the music to move you on an emotional level. Two examples come to mind. I asked Scott to play something from Neil Young's "Massey Hall" LP on the smaller system featuring the new Muse loudspeaker. Absolutely stunning from the first chords as Neil launched into "Helpless" and I sat back and completely forgot where and when I was--it was 1971 and I was in row 10. Down in the big room later in the day on Saturday Lou played a Louis Armstrong recording, again on vinyl, that was both deeply touching and completely endearing. I listened to nearly every system in the hotel that day and none of them moved me like this, none of them made me remember why I got into this hobby in the first place, none of them spoke to my soul and left me breathless and elated the way the two Daedalus rooms did. Lou, you are a master at your craft and have wisely aligned yourself with others who share your passion and aesthetic (Dan and Alex). Together you guys are doing great things that seem to elude others in the field. Keep up the good work and thank you for making it happen for us.
