At 2012 CES Aesthetix mono-powered 5A Carbons in a standard (small) hotel room was among the best I ever heard, especially for the lowly stereo format.  They just sounded like music.  Model 2s never did much for me, but they obviously cost only a small fraction of the Carbon.

It's funny how he is marketing them as home theater speakers. 

Tacoma Park is local to me -- it's where boomer hippies live.  I would make a play for this pair if I didn't just splurged on a DAC.

That is a good but not great price.  Over the last 6+ years I have seen used 5A's go for $8-13k depending on age, finish, etc...

Can't say I have seen too many 5A's go for $7k range you are citing.  At that price I would jump all over them!

I've seen the ebay auction for the Vandersteen 5A in Takoma, MD the past year and a half. There was an audio store close by in Kensington, MD called "Soundworks" that carried the Vandy 5A's so I assumed these 5A's were from leftover stock. The past seven offers since May are listed as "expired" instead of "declined" so I'm not sure what that means.

I noticed those 5A's on ebay went for $6300.  I just missed by a day a very nice set of 5As on Agon for $6,000.  Not bad prices for some great speakers.
