Just spotted this sad news.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - The renowned American classical pianist Van Cliburn has died. He was 78. His publicist and longtime friend Mary Lou Falcone told The Associated Press that Cliburn died Wednesday morning after suffering from bone cancer.

Just listened to his Debussy yesterday and thought - as I always do - how magical it was.

A sad loss. Still occasionally catch one of his concerts on the PBS Arts channel in the wee hours. RIP

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

He was the last of the legendary pianists of the 20th Century.  To a boy taking piano lessons in Dallas during the 60's, Van Cliburn was a god.  I know what I'll be listening to for the rest of the day.
