Thinking and Ideas For Headphone Mania Circle
« on: 29 May 2019, 01:32 pm »
Hey folks, as the new facilitator for the circle, I have been thinking about adding some stuff and wanted to pass it by you all...

The circle seems pretty much a random set of threads about a wide variety of topics. Which is great, open and free form.
But as time moves along some of this good information and experience falls off the charts and is harder to find or see.

So I was wondering how you all would feel if I started to add some threads that were orientated towards specific items?

I was thinking of possibly adding threads like these: (only examples).....

"Beyerdynamics Headphone Discussion"
"Sennheiser Headphone Discussion"
"Audeze Headphone Discussion"
"Grado Heaedphone Discussion"
etc...

and on the "gear" side:

"Schitt Audio Gear Discussion"
"WooAudio Discussion"
"Vintage Receivers for Headphones Discussion"
"DACS for Headphones Discusion"
"Tube Stuff for Headphones Discussion"
"Portable Gear for Headphones"

This is not to say let us stop originating our random threads as we often do,,,just trying to make it easier for folks to put and find stuff relevant to
a particular area, piece of gear or specific hedphone type etc..

Be interested in hearing from you folks about this...

Good Morning
Alex

The coffee is great here...a blend of Peets "Major Dickerson" and Starbucks "Sumatra" 50/50....thats my secret blend!!

I  would also be interested in ideas for optimal headphone matching. I know I have around 6 pairs of headphones and 3 amplifiers both balanced and RCA  and there are definitely huge differences
in sound. Even so far as music type there are differences in the preference of headphones. I kind of jumped in with 2 feet to the headphone world so I would be interested in hearing different headphone/amp matchups.

Perhaps expanding the circle to discuss/cover portable music players, such as those from Cowon, Astell+Kern, etc.

Folks who use these devices are just as interested about what headphones work well with these units.

I like the idea of brand specific threads. Love my Beyers.

Another idea is a thread dedicated to inexpensive, high quality IEMs. There are exceptional sounding IEMs available now that compete with IEMs costing 5 times the price. So cheap, it's a shame not to try them just for fun.

Ok I started three "Discussion" threads on the topics you have identified, more to come based on input....

If they grow and take off we can make them "sitckies".

Dont want tons of stickies, mainly because the other threads just get lost below them and we have a circle of "stickies"

So lets see how it goes for now.
