There are two games. One is free and it's on the Walking Dead's tv show website. It's basically an interactive comic book and it is EXCELLENT.

The other just came out for Xbox 360 and PS3. It's episodic downloadable. 5 episodes, released monthly, two hours per episode.

The game is completely choose your own adventure, every little decision counts, and there are completely different game experiences per player. Your playthrough will not be the same as mine. Story based, personal,  not a mindless shooter.

There is a downloadable demo which becomes episode 1 after you buy it. $20 for all five. Trying it to tonight.

It's awesome! It's a lot like Heavy Rain, in that it is extremely interactive in a unique style of gameplay, but this takes is further:

every time you make a decision or choose how to respond in conversation or to a situation, the game notes this at the upper left, example : "Steve now knows you have a boat", and all these little decisions make the game branch off into different permutations.

The game gives you a limited time to respond, or you can choose to do nothing, and the game notes that too, but you are forced to make on the spot decisions and then live with the consequences.

The neat part is all this complexity is spread across five episodes so basically at the end of episode 5, your experience could be vastly different than mine! You'll meet different people, different events will occur.

The game takes place at the very beginning of the outbreak. You play a prisoner being escorted to the pen. Something happens that lets you get away. There are familiar characters from the show, and you get to see what they were doing at the beginning.

And it's genuinely scary! We've all played zombie games and are all pretty desensitized to the scare. Not possible with this game!

You play a regular human being, an injured one at that, not a super human with blazing guns, mowing down enemies.

When you face a zombie, the style of the gameplay, and the graphics/sound make it really pretty intense.

Sounds incredible on my Maggies, especially all the ambient sounds, it's a living, breathing world drawn in the thick lines of the comic.

If you are a fan of this show, you are missing out HUGE by not playing this.

Sweet! Love the TV series, the comics and the books.
Now this! Looks like my 'just opened' copy of MW3 will have to wait a while longer.

Just finished the first episode. Damn good. Glenn is part of it and you get to meet
him before he leaves for Atlanta where you first meet him in the tv show.

This game is like being in the show itself. Really well done!
