BP25 (#252399) remote control options?
« on: 23 Jul 2018, 05:11 pm »
I recently acquired a BP-25 preamp (ser. no. 252399), but no remote control was included.

Are there any options for a remote control other than the (relatively) expensive BR-2?

The reason I ask, other than price, is that most of the BR-2 functions do not apply to the BP-25.

All I really need is volume control, though mute would also be useful.

I have the following remote IRTX1 which is the remote that came with my BP25. It sounds like it will fit the bill as it has volume control , mute, and phase control. I can send a picture if required.

I have a Logitech Harmony 650 and i use it to my BP26 and SP2.
So it should work fine with the BP25.

Are you limited to the four functions on the remote that comes with the BP-25 (Volume, Mute and Phase)? or can you also change inputs and vary the balance with the Logitech Harmony remote?

Hi dubkarma,

I have a BP25 along with several other Bryston components.

I have both the BR1 and BR2 remotes. I have both because the BR2 cannot control the BP25.

While the BP25 and BP26 superficially seem nearly identical except for their power supplies, a difference is the remotes they can be used with.

On the Bryston website, these are the compatible preamps listed on the BR2's page (note that this list includes out-of-production products):
BP26, BP17, BP16, BP6 Preamplifiers

As mentioned above, the functions the BP1 provides are mute/standby, volume and phase.
